kinkatopia boy kinkajous

 Arkham

Arkham may be a handful and self-proclaimed “scary bear,” but he is really just a big baby! I call him “King Baby.” For as wild as he is, he is afraid of noises and movements (more so than the average kinkajou). He acts all tough, but I can see the mamma’s boy trapped inside.

He is always on high-alert, “protecting” his territory. Arkham has a lot of energy, and it is important that we keep him busy. He spends most of his evenings marking his territory and assuring everything is in order. We can’t have anyone coming in to touch his ladies now, can we?!

Fortunately, he loves his enclosure and is satisfied just knowing his door is open. I frequently find him stretched out on his back, lounging on his cage floor. Another fun fact, he lays around like a dog. I feel he is almost more of a ground-dweller than he is supposed to be arboreal.

He loves to wrestle with Gotham, TC, and Binx. Lately, he is obsessed with his baby brother, and Binx couldn’t be more thrilled about it.

Kinky

Little Kinkeeto! Kinky is a very social guy. He is the only kinkajou at Kinkatopia who craves hugs and cuddles. This is very unique to him as many kinkajous are not like this. He really enjoys cuddling up on the couch with his favorite humans, but overall, doesn’t discriminated. He is welcoming to all with ear sniffs and happy chirps.

He is quite sweet when he wakes up. He has to stretch and stretttccchhhhhh … he lengthens his lean body and raises his left hand, completely elongated with a fist. It’s a very dramatic sight and so adorable.

Kinky is a great guy and very sweet kinkajou. He was a wonderful addition to our Kinkatopia family. he found his prfect companion in bella and is living his best life.

Oliver

Oliver is a kind and gentle soul. He doesn’t appear to have a mean bone in his body. When he arrived, he was scared, but never aggressive. He’s always a perfect gentleman.

When he is out in the house, he likes to curl up on one of the cat trees. He isn’t destructive and refrains from going through the cabinets. He is happy to just hang out.

Wherever he is, he always greets me. He goes to a perch, faces me, and dips down so I can pet him. He will occasionally get on my shoulder, but he prefers to hound for food. He is a huge fan of enrichment toys.

He seems happiest when I allow him to do his own thing. I’ve never tried to pick him up out of respect. He will let me maneuver him by his tail.

DO NOT wake the bear! If awoken during the day, he’ll throw tantrums. He’ll huff and stomp his feet. However, if he wakes up on his own accord, he is happy to investigate. He frequently spends time consulting for me, while I work on outdoor enclosures.

He is totally cool with the cats of the house, but still questions the kinkajous. he lives with the flying squirrels and a red-footed tortoise since kinkajous are just way too weird.

Binx

Binx is Kinkatopia’s only greater kinkajou! This means that he has a larger-than-average size and could top out at 10+ pounds! He is our youngest and largest kinkajou.

Binx is the happiest guy around! I have never seen a kinkajou, let alone any animal (humans included), smile as much as this guy does. He is all love. He is very child-like in personality — innocent, curious, playful. He wouldn’t hurt a fly — okay he’s tried to go after a moth, but really he just looked like something out of a Disney movie, batting it around.

He is the ultimate baby brother. He steals food from his siblings’ mouths and loves to roughhouse. Every kinkajou in the main room (Arkham, Gotham, and TC) takes a turn interacting with him throughout the evening.

He is obsessed with hair clips and ties. Every night he makes a point to steal whatever I have in my hair and run to a tunnel with it. Sometimes I even have to wait until the next morning to get my hair piece back!

He is also pretty much the only kink who hangs out with me when I clean and/or restore the main room. He is very involved in all activities I do in there. He likes to think he’s quality control.

Binx loves dinosaurs! His family brought a fleece blanket with dinos on it, when they surrendered him. He loves it! He also has rubber dinosaurs that he loves to play with. I often find them standing upright in places around the room, when I clean up in the mornings. How interesting that he stands them up on their feet!

He also has a favorite baby toy, which is a plush giraffe with a rattle inside. That is his favorite comfort item.

TOMMY BAHAMA

tommy+1.jpg

Tommy is a shy and meek boy. Don’t let his timid appearance fool you though, his trust must be carefully earned. However, when trust is earned, he becomes the sweetest and is okay with being pet, booped and more.

He never lived with another kinkajou before coming to kinkatopia, but took in roomates with an openmind. He is a total gentleman … always letting the lady eat first and run the show.

Fun fact: Tommy shares a birthday with the mother of kinkajous.

MOMO

Momo2.jpg

Momo is a kinkajou nobleman who loves luxury and gourmet food. This feisty guy will never settle for anything but the absolute best! And he will judge you for your poor choices, especially when it comes to food offerings.

Having quite the exquisite palate, his favorite foods are seafood and he is especially partial to lobster. He also loves green olives! His other love is his roommate Myla. Rumor has it, she was even allowed to sleep in his crate once! With Myla being the exception, his aristocratic demeanor makes him not quite the “touchy-feely” kinda guy, more like “bitey-bleedy,” which is understandable. He spent his first 13 years with his loving family and therefore, his adjustment has been slow. That being said, he loves human connection … make eye contact with this guy and feed him affirmations and he will smile all night.

The embodiment of “hangry,” he is not a stranger to loudly complaining about the service in this place, even if it is 2 a.m.

Maverick

Isn’t he the coolest dude?! maverick is lily’s companion … Kinkatopia officially took them in during february 2022 after boarding for a year and a half. maverick is a gentle gem. he is chatty when he first wakes up and like to have conversations in little hisses.

he is very inquisitive and childlike.

maverick was neutered when he first arrived and appears to still be pretty chill for a 4-year-old. he loves his lily and sleeping in his hammock. that is his absolute fav!

Bijou

this chatty cathy was a total surprise! I got the call from his family and 2 days later — here he was! we brought him in as a temporary boarder and his permanent stay was totally dependent on chloe! due to our lack of space, bijou and chloe needed to hit it off and be roomies. thank goodness — they did!

bij is a really good dude. his chatty personality sends mixed signals, but he is always down for a head scratch and a snack.

he came to us in 2021 at the ripe age of 9 … just kidding! that’s nothing! bijou has a long and happy life at kinkatopia ahead of him. he was a great surprise additon.

Julian

Julian arrived in november 2021 as a long-term boarder. in june 2022, kinkatopia took him on as a permanent resident.

he is a younger guy! Like with maverick, kinkatopia was sure to get julian neutered (w/ owner permission) asap after arrival.

fortunately, we were able to settle julian in with chloe and bijou to socialize him! He is a great little dude and they make a cute little family.

KINKATOPIA boy “OTHER” CREATURES

norman bates, small-spotted genet

born in april 2021, Norman is an african small-spotted genet that came to kinkatopia when he was 6 weeks old. The mother of kinkajous’ mentor had a litter and alexandra had always dreamed of caring for a genet. in fact, she was going to get a genet but found gotham instead in 2016 — and we know how that turned out.

norman is not a feline but he sure thinks he is one! he loves his kitty siblings and sleeping with his mom. he is great with visitors (especially kids) which is very rare for genets. they are typically very shy and aloof.

he will live out his life at kinkatopia. although his aquiring may seem unconventional to some, he is uncoditionally loved and a wonderful ambassador. he also led to the taking in of our other genet, norma — and we hope to bring home at least one other genet to be companions with her.

funny that norman was more accepting of tree kitty than norma who is his own kind! Oh Norman!

Maverick, flying squirrel

maverick has been at kinkatopia long before it was what it is today! he arrived to the mother of kinkajous in 2015 from alabama. he was a yearling who fell out of a tree as an infant and was raised with humans so he was deemed nonreleasable.

he was an escape artist who had his own bedroom, but his human knew he needed more. she fly him to florida and the rest is history.

maverick used to live with his companion name penelope and free roam the whole house! unfortunately, the cats made it impossible for that to continue so maverick moved around from cage to cage until he was settle outside. he know lives in oliver’s enclosure with his companion, momo.

Ollie, owl monkey

ollie joined us right at the beginning of covid! a sanctuary was shutting down and the owner entrusted rehoming ollie (then “olliver) to us. he was our first primate and we were in way over our heads! kinkatopia hired a primate trainer and worked tirelessly with ollie to help him settle into the monkey he is today.

he can be very fickle and moody, so he is hands-off for everyone. he loves most animals, but it took him a while to warm up to other owl monkeys. he definitely prefers the cats over his own kind, but he has an open heart for the right companion.

yes, he is nocturnal too! just look at those eyes! however, we so rarely see him sleep! he is such a cutie! but so much different than the kinkajous. he is much more social and involved.

Kinkatopia would like to give a HUGE thank-you to the recurring monthly sponsors who contribute to our animals consistently. sponsorship is the LIFEBLOOD that helps cover each individual animals’ cost of living. it’s also an incredible way to get closer with your favorite kinkatopia animals.
