DECEMBER 2018

Greetings Kinkatopia! Happy 2019!

I hope everyone had a blessed and safe holiday season. I am still wrapping my head around the growth, support, and success 2018 granted Kinkatopia — and I couldn’t do it without each and every one of you.

We kicked off December with our first online auction! Thank you to everyone who participated! It was an awesome success and I am considering to do it annually. The auction generated around $800, which went toward medical bills, renovations, and general operation.

The same weekend as the auction, Kinkatopia executed our first public exhibit at Holiday Happenings in Delray Beach, Florida. We ran a booth at the event to educate the public about kinkajous and our sanctuary. We will be doing this from time to time in order to raise awareness for our cause. The next event we have on the books is the South Florida Pet Expo in April 2019; we are pairing up with the Pawsitive Pet Trainer.

Chloe, Oliver, and Binx went to the vet! Chloe and Oliver had full blood workups and I am happy to report they are 100% healthy. Oliver, turned Olive, back to Oliver is a confirmed boy. What a fiasco I caused. He does have some female-like features, but the vet did confirm him as a male. I offered apologizes to the little dude in the form of a mansion. Oliver moved into his large, outdoor aviary and is acclimating nicely.

Molly kinkajou came to board with us for a month. She will be staying at Kinkatopia until mid-January. Please remember, we board kinkajous!

Another round of renovations was executed on the main Kinkatopia room. It was repainted, repaired, new cat trees were added, and more tunnels were installed. The residents love it!

I interviewed with Barcroft Media in England for the possibility of doing a viral video on Kinkatopia. Unfortunately, they went in the direction of big cats, but they know who we are. Maybe someday in the future they will change their minds.

I had the pleasure of meeting 8-week-old baby Lily, when her parents picked her up from the breeder. She is the sweetest! She traveled home to meet her big sister Lucy, and they are getting along famously! I LOVE meeting your kinkajous! Please keep stopping by and inviting me to connect.

The holiday season was amazing. Thank you for the fund and supply donations! The kinkajous had an amazing Christmas — they had a special dinner, foraged in stockings, and opened packages.

I am thrilled to share that Kinkatopia was awarded a grant from The Lawrence Foundation, in California. Over the months I have written to over 60 foundations and opportunities, asking for funding. We finally nailed one! I am so grateful! In January I will be purchasing large enclosures to add to the main room. Some of the grant will be paying for these. I am so excited about these additions!

I am still working on the veterinary and state-by-state kinkajou legality lists. I have many holes in my data so please continue to update me on this information!

Kinkacookies are not forgotten! I will resume and finish the list I created this past year. I apologize it is taking longer than expected.

The same goes for the videos I promised. December has been a crazy month and January is pretty wild as well. I will resume videos as soon as possible. I do go live on Facebook occasionally and could integrate that platform more. I appreciate the interaction I get when I do so.

Kinkatopia is officially an Arm the Animals ambassador. This is a clothing and accessory company that supports rescues, please check out their website. 20% of your purchase(s) will be donated to Kinkatopia by using the code “KINKATOPIA.” I bought some of their clothing myself!

Don’t forget to use AmazonSmile! We should be receiving out first quarterly payout in February. Fingers crossed!

We met with Michelle Martiya of Essential Animal Training, who is willing to try some training with the kinkajous. She will be helping me communicate with them better, teach them commands to help with daily activities, and expand our enrichment program. Hoping to kick this off ASAP!

Wild Wonders is a wildlife sanctuary in California, whom we have been connecting with. We admire their program and tenacity to educate and conserve. Therefore, we have committed to sponsoring one of their kinkajous named Linus! Linus is one of their original residents of over 20 years. He has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Insufficiency Syndrome and needs medication four times a day for the rest of his life! We are committed to help keeping Linus happy and healthy. Please check out Wild Wonders — Linus is one of many animals they unconditionally care for.

We are gearing up for 2019 with more fundraising opportunities! We have one kinkajou on our waiting list and have much to settle before taking another on. I am always open to fundraising ideas so please, let me hear them!

I also have multiple sanctuaries I will be making upcoming visits to in order to establish kinka- connections.

I think that about covers December! What an incredible month and bang to end 2018! Thank you again to everyone for your support and participation. I can’t express how proud I am of Kinkatopia and everyone who is a part of it.
