NOVEMBER 2018

November Update: Hello Kinkatopia!

I hope everyone had a blessed Thanksgiving and is ready for this holiday season. We are diving in by kicking off with our December 1-2 online Facebook auction and first public event since inception (Dec 1)! Information pertaining to both events can be found on Facebook and Instagram. All proceeds go directly to medical, enclosure upkeep, food, supplies, and general operations. Kinkatopia has a collective vet visit on December 3 that we are raising money for this weekend.

We spent time meeting and interacting with Yogi and Booboo; belonging to Lisa and Kenny of South Florida. I adore meeting everyone’s kinkajous. It allows me a greater opportunity to observe and interact with more kinkas; which leads to more research and community.

Nine-month-old Binx joined Kinkatopia at the beginning of November. He is such a blessing! I have traced his roots to discover he is a greater kinkajou from central Florida. His demeanor is super sweet and he loves the other kinks — especially TC. He will be at our December 1 event at Delray Marketplace’s Holiday Happenings, in Delray Beach, Florida.

Arkham got neutered! At three years old I finally pulled the plug. He has been recovering for two weeks now, which hasn’t proved to be the easiest, but we are making it. Dr. Carew of Bayview Animal Hospital has provided me with attentive aftercare support and it is greatly appreciated!

I’ve gotten some inquiries about Kinkatopia “breeding kinkajous.” This is false. I do not breed kinkajous, nor do I keep breeding pairs. We are a permanent sanctuary dedicated to improving the overall quality of life of this special species.

Oh my goodness FUNDRAISERS! You guys are amazing! #GivingTuesday was a success and raised an estimated $700+. In addition, we have had so many fundraisers initiated by you incredible people! A special thanks to: Savannah Payne, Keri Laut, Chris Garcia, Tami Holliman, Holly Deveaugh, Nanci Dreibelbis, Rachel Ham, and Amber Kay. My heart is so full with gratitude. We will see those funds in a couple months!

I have decided to change the “Donate” button on our Facebook page to connect to Facebook fundraising, instead of PayPal. It appears to be a simpler protocol to follow.

I am still working on a national veterinary listing, as well as a state-by-state legal breakdown for owning a kinkajou. All input is needed and appreciated!

I am continuing with filming videos and distributing kinkacookies. My apologies for the delays!

This holiday season use AmazonSmile for your holiday shopping and choose Kinkatopia as your designated charity. It’s an awesome way to shop and give at the same time.

We haven’t officially announced our position as an Arm the Animals ambassador, but will this next month! Arm the Animals is an animal welfare advocate clothing company, who is now supporting Kinkatopia. Check out their website and use “Kinkatopia” code to have 20% of your purchase donated to our cause.

Kinkatopia is officially a PayPal charity!

Honestly, this month has been a whirlwind of success and unity. We are looking forward to December!

Take care! Happy Holiday!
