OCTOBER 2018
October Update: Hello Kinkatopia!
Last month I shared about a lost kinkajou in New York – Coco has been found! She has been safely reunited with her family.
I’ve been trying to post more to YouTube. You’ll find a bunch of baby videos as well interaction videos with other animals. Most recently, I am launching a Behind the Scenes look at kinkajous regarding the good, bad, and ugly. I posted my first last night about bites and behavior and it’s been an awesome success. Thanks for all the feedback! More to come!
I made contact with world-renowned wild kinkajou researcher, Roland Keys. He is available for communication for further studies. I am totally fangirling over here.
The CustomInk fundraiser was a great success. We raised $414 and sold 40+ shirts! I have been getting inquiries about where you can get shirts. Unfortunately, this fundraiser was set to run only for 3 weeks through a third-party venue, however, with requests for more coming in, I will situate a way to sell more shirts. It’s in the works and for internationally supporters as well.
Kinkacookies are still being mailed out. Thank you for your patience. I do have a wait list I am working with. I assure you that if you’ve reached out wanting some, they will be coming to you in the future; I will notify you when.
UPCOMING FUNDRAISING AUCTION! The weekend of December 1-2 we will be holding an online auction to raise funds for Kinkatopia. Please join us and FOLLOW: I frequently post updates and look for input. In early November I will release the list of current items we have for auction. Just to give you an idea: tickets to attractions, restaurant gift cards, art, merchandise, animal food, and other gift cards. Items are for a national audience (international for some items) so, SHARE! SHARE! SHARE! You can participate from anywhere and at your leisure!
Kinkatopia was approved by Facebook to add a “donate” button to our page. Now anyone can launch a fundraiser to support the kinkajous! VICTORINA created a Kinkatopia birthday fundraiser collecting over $400 for us! This is incredible!
In addition to Facebook, more immediate donations also be made via: GoFundMe, Paypal, and Venmo.
All donations are tax deductible and receive a thank-you painting by Chloe kinkajou.
We are on AmazonSmile! Go to amazonsmile.com to make your Amazon purchases and they will donate a percentage to Kinkatopia!
We are also on GuideStar and updated (for the most part) in the IRS database (there is a slight system error on the IRS’ part). Our name is locked and loaded with the USDA.
Welcome to our international friends! We are communicating regularly with South America, Germany, Hungary, and Asia.
We are still searching for a grocery store(s) to donate leftover produce. I have executed mass outreach via foot and mail. Keep the ideas coming. We do have a cafeteria willing to help us out in the next month or so. Also, Publix donated a gift card to us, which is amazing, but when so quickly! We were able to get produce and cleaning supplies. Thank you, Publix!
The saga continues in applying for grants…
I am working on a national veterinary list of clinics that will see kinkajous. I have a lot of holes in the list as far as states, so please! Submit your input on what vets you use.
Oliver is actually Olive! I discovered that Olive actually has lady parts and formally announced her gender reveal. She is so darn cute! She still is not interested in the other kinkajous – she is very scared of them – so I am working to primarily get her comfortable with myself. She is doing well!
We’ve has some baby kinkajou visitors and three adults boarded with us this month. I love meeting everyone’s animals! It’s a wonderful experience, especially when the kinkajous can socialize. And yes, Kinkatopia BOARDS KINKAJOUS! If you have an emergency or are going on vacation, we are happy to accommodate.
We love our fellow sanctuaries! This month we have been particularly involved with promoting the CARE Foundation of Florida (Fall Fest 2018) and Wild Wonders, in California (medical fundraiser). Please take a moment to check them out!
We made it through October with one trip the emergency vet, medication purchases, repairs to the main kinkajou room, replacing furniture/enrichment, and the usual general operations. This all totals an estimated $500 for October operation. Thank you for all the support – I can’t do it without you!
Happy Halloween! Peace, Love, and Kinkajous
